Origin

It started with his own patients.

Oral-Regen was invented by an orofacial pain and oral medicine specialist who sees a steady stream of patients with mouths that a standard tube of toothpaste makes worse.

Who walks in

Mucositis from radiation and chemotherapy. Erosive lichen planus. Traumatic oral and oropharyngeal sores, canker sores, herpetic lesions. Wounds from biopsies and complications after oral surgery.

Most of them report persistent pain in the mouth and throat that toothpaste makes worse, and that medicated rinses do not settle. The specialist prescribing for them kept running into the same wall: there was no toothpaste on the market these patients could fully tolerate with open wounds, sores, or mucositis.

What that costs

Patients adapt in ways that cost them. They brush badly on purpose. They use less paste hoping it will hurt less, or misjudge and use far too much and hurt more. Some stop brushing altogether. Poor oral health follows, and then a cascade of dental problems on top of whatever they were already being treated for.

The same patients were being asked to manage a shelf of separate products, many carrying preservatives and incidental ingredients that irritated the tissue they were meant to spare. All-day rinses, lozenges, pills, and a different probiotic for each problem.

One tablet instead

Oral-Regen puts what those patients were juggling into a single chewable tablet, used in place of toothpaste. One thing to buy, one thing to remember, one dose every time.

How it’s built

A chewable tablet, used in place of standard toothpaste.

  1. One tablet, chewed dry

It is chewed dry and allowed to mix with saliva, and the patient brushes with the result.

  2. Fluoride free

No fluoride. The sweetener is xylitol.

  3. Foam from soap bark

The lather comes from quillaja saponaria, bark extract of the Chilean soap-bark tree.

  4. Minerals and live cultures

Nano-hydroxyapatite, the mineral enamel is made of, milled into rods, alongside five documented Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains.

  5. Thirty minutes after

Brushing ends and the mouth is left alone. No rinsing, and nothing to eat or drink for half an hour.

The literature

Countless papers on the ingredients, each summarized with its design, population, findings, and limits. The finished tablet has been tested for safety and quality control and is in the process of being trialed for various health benefits.
